Diann Bauer
Diann Bauer was an artist and writer based in London. She worked independently and was also part of two ongoing collective projects: the working group Laboria Cuboniks, with whom she co-authored Xenofeminism: A Politics of Alienation, and the collaboration A.S.T., which focused on speculative urbanism and climate change. Bauer’s independent work explored questions of time, particularly the disjunction between human experience of time and its apparent function (or dysfunction) at scales beyond the human. She worked across various media, including video, installation, drawing, and sculpture.
Bauer studied art and architecture at the Cooper Union and earned an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, London. Her work was screened and exhibited internationally, including at Tate Britain, the ICA, and The Showroom in London; The Sharjah Biennale 13, UAE; The Busan Biennale, Korea; Deste Foundation, Athens; and The New Museum and Socrates Sculpture Park in New York.
