Helga Timko
Helga Timko studied theoretical particle physics at the University of Helsinki between 2005 and 2008, where she worked in parallel as teaching and research assistant. As a PhD student of the University of Helsinki and CERN, she worked on understanding the formation vacuum arcs for future accelerators, developing a model for the plasma onset of vacuum arcs and studying plasma-wall interactions. Since 2011 as a CERN postdoctoral fellow, she oriented herself toward accelerator physics, solving beam dynamics problems for the LHC injectors. In the past five years, she has been working as staff scientist on the LHC radio-frequency accelerating system as system expert in day-to-day machine operation. Continuing theoretical and simulation studies in the field of beam dynamics, she performs studies for future high-intensity operational scenarios, and together with her team, she has been developing the BLonD beam longitudinal dynamics simulation suite.
